Here I am with Sev at Geek Fest 2011. It is very funny, and a bit sad that I recognise so many of the costumes.

Sev keeps meeting friends, which is to be expected. I keep meeting people I know, which is weird.

“Coolest”, if you can call it that, thing I’ve seen so fate is a dalek wooly hat. So funny!

Don’t mention the earthquake! Yes, I’ve been quiet since the earthquake, because it dominates life and conversation here slot, and quite frankly, ahhhhh more earthquake talk. So I’ll round it off by saying we are all fine, our house is livable, if somewhat cracked (garage need to be demolished, blah, blah) and I’m wonderful, cough, cough, yeah, right.

So real meaningless nice news. Severin got player of the day today, yeah Sev! And deservedly. Set up the first goal with a wonderfullly weighted pass that cut the defense and gave the goal score an easy finish. Scored the second goal,top right corner, nice. And setup the third goal, again, a through ball, boom bang goal. Also in the the second half he ran past defenders at will, so cool to watch. 3-2 final score, great game.

Earthquake Quick Update

Sorry for slow post, only Internet on phone. We are all fine which makes us feel very lucky. We are quite close to the earthquake centre, so the house took a bit of a battering, but we have power, some water – very low pressure, boil to use and no hot water. And of course the hole dug in the back yard for, well, you know.

This is still better than a lot of people. Not as good as we’d like but really, so much better than it could have been.

I hope this finds everybody else fine and my thoughts go out to everyone who have lost or have missing loved ones.

Stuff Nico Can Do

I was talking to a friend about how different breed of dogs enjoy different things. Nico finds getting a ball a bit of a bore, once, maybe twice then it’s if you want that thing, stop throwing it away! But he loves learning new tricks. Getting now to the point that we are running out of ideas of what to teach him. I’m trying to find useful things to teach him, like closing doors and finding people.

Alexandra Invades Central Otago

J&J all 1960-ish

Not really, but we invaded Alexandra, again. Armed only with bikes and our wits (they never expected us to come by road), we ventured forth on a long weekend to visit Diana’s brother and sister-in-law, J – something and J-something.

Up to the clock

I was after relaxing and coffee (the irony wasn’t lost on me), Sev was after relaxing and food, and Diana had one section of the rail trail to do, and coffee and relaxing. So we all saddled up and went to the final section. Naturally we picked a 30C degree day, which made it that little more challenging, but we’re hard tough and had an icecream at the end, so that made it all better.

With one thing and another, we were all very stressed when we went down, then managed to have just the right relaxing time to come back feeling so much better. A lovely weekend.

Alas, now I can only look down upon my son figuratively.

The sod is now taller than me. Bets are on for when he overtakes his dad. But at least my skin is clearer.
