Not Posting, not typing

Haven’t posted for a while about what is going on, that is because I have fractured my left wrist and am finding it hard to type. I touch type so this hunt and peck is very annoying and slow.

How I fractured my wrist, reasons I give when asked:

  1. While jumping the Vespa over 8 buses, only made 5, need to know my daredevil limits
  2. Have taken up base jumping
  3. Rodeo riding, should have stayed with the horses, moving to bulls was just stupid

Needless to say the real reason is much more mundane. Out the back with Severin playing football, fell awkwardly and landed on my hand bent back, ouch. I can’t even blame Severin for bad tackle since he was no where near me, I was playing in shoes without any real tread and evening dew got the better of me.

Still could be worse, my sister fell off a chair and broke bones and now has a steel plate in her wrist (she is Super Titanium Woman, able to be ignored by her children at only 2 feet, he, he). Another friend Taz in Australia smashed up his wrist playing tennis, around the same time as I did this (oh we are so competitive), so a few weeks in an annoying cast isn’t really that bad, I suppose.

What is really getting to me is that we are having very unseasonal warm weather for this time of year, and I’m taking the car since riding a Vespa is impossible. I just know rain, sleet, hail, and frosts await when I’m back on the bike. Just typical.

  1. Hope its better by now…

  2. Out of the cast, still sore and two weeks before I can take any weight on it. I’m grumpy like a bear with a sore wrist, but not for too much longer :) .

  3. Yes, Taz isn’t holidaying to ChCh with Zaki and me this month as he’d never make it through airport security with so much metal in his hand. (The Sore Hand Grumpiness Factor is universal too, Hugh.) Tough to be Handicapped. Taz isn’t allowed to even drive a car, never mind a Vespa, and with a broken thumb hitch-hiking presents its own unique issues!
